I can't believe how fast this first month has flown by. Our little girl is already getting so big and has changed so much. I've said it a million times already I am amazed at how much I love her. It's truly the best gift I could have even gotten, to become her mommy. I look forward to everyday now just wondering what she's going to do next, her waking up and seeing me, I am excited for everything now. We've adjusted fairly well I have to admit. Honestly I think we've just been really lucky that she honestly is one amazingly easy going baby. We were blessed with a little one that within her first two weeks was letting us have 5 hour stretches through the middle of the night. Definitely made the adjustment much easier. Those couple nights where she forgot about 5 hours and went back to 2 and 3 were pretty rough though. But we're back on track and have had no less than a 5 hour night for the last week and a half. No complaints. Here is a quick glance at some stats and updates.
How old: 1 month
Weight: I'm going to guess we've hit the 10lb mark. We've got a checkup in 2 weeks! How old: 1 month
Height: At our 2 Week appointment she was 21 inches. I guarantee she's minimally 22 inches right now. Again we'll confirm in 2 weeks at our checkup
Clothing size: We're between 0-3 and 3 Month. She grew out of the newborn clothes by the 2 week mark, mostly because she had gotten so long. Right now that's the issue we're having with most of the 0-3 month clothes too! She's growing so fast!
Sleep: We're LUCKY, let's put it that way. Since about the 9 day mark we've been getting
a 5 hour stretch almost every night with the exception of a couple fussy nights where she
slept 3 {which even that is still good} She's had two 6 hour nights and I'm going to brag a
little, this past Sunday night she slept for 7 hours!!! She does good stretches during the
day as well, usually about 3-4 hours between bottles.
Food: She is solely drinking breastmilk. We were lucky to be able to stop the supplementing because of her blood sugar issues the day after we brought her home. Up until about a week ago I was still actually breastfeeding her for the middle of the night feedings but she's gotten to the point where her suck and latch is so intense that when she decides to flail around like a crazy baby it literally feels like she's going to take my nipple with her. It just got to be too much and the bonding that I thought it would be for us just wasn't enjoyable anymore. We decided that I was going to exclusively pump and give her bottles. At the end of the day the most important thing is that she's still getting my breastmilk. I think another great thing about it is that we're able to actually see how much she's eating.
Likes: I think it's safe to say she likes music. When I play her the Coldplay album that I played a lot while she was in my belly it usually makes her happy and will help her get to sleep if she's fussing. We also just bought the Rockabye Baby U2 Lullabys Album and I'm pretty sure she was digging that too! She also LOVES bath time! She's been great and usually gets very happy when she gets her bath!
Dislikes: Not a fan of the booger sucker. She's been kind of congested so I've tried using it to clean her out and she HATES it. Other than that she's not really showing signs of hating too much yet.
Mood: Mostly happy! We're really lucky!! She does have her witching hour phase in the early evenings though.
Best moment this month: I would have to say at the three and a half week mark when I was changing her diaper and making faces and talking to her and she smiled back at me. Totally melted my heart knowing that she was reacting to something I had done. However right at her 4 week mark she decided that during tummy time she would roll over onto her back! When she did it the first time and I missed it on camera. I rolled her back over again though and sure enough....BAM! She did it again!
Looking forward to: Our move, as crazy as that sounds with a newborn. But once we move we'll be able to finally get her nursery set up!! I'm so excited to get her room together!
