Welcome to our new Casa

Completely non wedding related post....wowser.

We're really finally settled into our new place!  Tomorrow is exactly 1 month.  The move was as well as can be expected considering we had picked one of the hottest weekends in August to move.  Literally it was disgustingly hot outside.  Great choice getting the movers last minute!

We're really loving the new place and Ruxin is doing as well as can be expected with his new digs too.  His first couple weeks were a little stressful.  I think he probably was just worried that he was going to get left again and that this new place was just the staging area before he got shipped off again.  But now....I think he REALLY loves all the new space and that he's got lots of room to run around and a nice patio outside to lay on.  I think a bit of his anxiety is back being in a new surrounding and not knowing where he is most of the day till we get home from work.  He's gotten much better and we haven't come home to any puddles on the floor in a while :)
So with the new place we have a lot of new room and space that we didn't have at the old place as well.  We've got a whole extra room that we didn't have before.  It's our upstairs loft space.  We're going to turn it into the "media" room where we can have movie nights.  Some other space that we're really enjoying is having a patio that is actually big enough to have company out on and BBQ without feeling like you're cramped.  Ruxin especially loves it.  One of my most favorite things that I know I'm going to love in the late fall early winter when MAYBE we get some chillier weather is my huge bathtub!! Been dying for a big tub to finally take nice relaxing baths in.  YAY!

  

Since moving to Ladera, Ruxin has also started getting a little more exercise.  It's clear that he is a lazy bum too because he's TOAST on his walks after about 30 minutes.  We've ventured out on quite a few trails around the neighborhood and it's really fun to watch him so excited when we're running.  Then he realizes,  "oh crap Mom, I'm tired", and he immediately slows down to a crawl and looks at me like really where is my couch right now?  It's been fun getting out and about with him some more though.  It's the perfect area to live with him to keep him active.  He'll build up his stamina soon enough and probably start out running me.  (Little side note: I'm still dying from yesterday's 5K 9/11 Heroes Run.  First 5K ever, no training and every single one of my extremities is like WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING??!!)

We're really excited about being here.  We've got a bunch of friends that are also in Ladera so I expect lots of BBQ's and hanging out on random nights.  And it's Football Season now, so of course Football Sundays at our place ANYTIME!   The area in general is just exactly what I've always pictured living in when I was ready to finally be settled down.  Once wedding mania is over next summer we'll start talking about Chapter 2 in our lives....Baby (SINGULAR - ONE BABY).  No official time line on that but when and if that does happen it's going to be a great place to raise a family.  So many fun activities that the city always seems to have going on.  Lots of great local parks.  A ton of sports teams year round.  It's just really exciting to envision our lives here.
