What else has been happening? Oh yea we're moving in less than two weeks!! We've decided to get out of the condo we're in and move into a larger Townhome. The place we're in right now is "ok", as long as we just stay inside our place. Lately our complex has just taken, well, a turn for the not so nice. That coupled with the fact that management at the complex has gotten a bit obnoxious in some of their new rules, we've decided it's time to start this new life journey we're on with a new place as well! We're going to be upgrading quite a bit. We'll be going from a 2 bed 2 bath, 1 car detatched garage, 1,000 sq ft place to a 2 bed, 2 bath plus a loft with a 2 car attached garage all with 1,600 sq ft of awesome! Oh and a really nice open patio space for Ruxin to finally lay out on and catch some rays on the weekends while we sit in nice comfy chairs chillaxin :) So I'll be honest another HUGE reason we're doing this is because of the HUGE family I have that is going to invade next summer for the wedding!! I'm not going to lie I'm really looking forward to having my siblings, nieces, nephews and momma all with us. It's been a long time since we've all been together at once so it's going to be tons of fun!
Disclaimer before you read this next section...I may or may not use the B word....as in BOOB.
And then the other updates. So yesterday I had to take back my dress so that they could re-order for me in a smaller size. You may remember in one of my previous blogs when I mentioned that when I picked up my dress it was HUGE on me. I showed up to David's Bridal with my dress in hand and Jae, the gal who I've been working with gave me a huge smile when I walked over to see her. She knew that it was still good news that it wasn't just a fluke when I tried the dress on before that it was falling off me. Yes that is good news because what bride to be wouldn't be excited that her dress is too big and she gets to order a smaller size. Luckily for me I'm still able to do this because we have so much time! So first things first Jae wanted to retake all of my measurements just to double check the size chart for this specific dress to see if maybe we should just be doing two sizes down on the reorder instead of one. She started right off with my chest. (Boobs for those of you that need a better idea of what all consists of a "chest" measurement LOL) When I was first measured it was a shocking 40 inches. Are you joking me? When she originally told me that when I was first measured I was in shock. Mostly because I was like if that is the right number there is no way any of the bras I have at home are even close to being the size I should be wearing. Seriously just another annoying thing about being a woman. Having a bra that fits 100% properly 100% of the time. So this time around I wasn't even sure what to expect for that measurement. I knew that with all this working out, Spinning/Pilates, eating better that I have felt like I've been shrinking quite a bit. 37 inches she says. WHAT? 3 inch decrease in about 5 weeks?? Yep my boobs are disappearing each week. Moving right down waist also down two inches!! Hips, well not so much, still the same. (Thanks Perkins family for giving me hips that no matter how much I work out I think I'm always going to be stuck with) With all this said we looked over the chart and of course I was right on for two sizes down if we went solely on my chest and waist but still on the higher end for my hips going just one size down. I thought to myself ok, if I order two sizes down and I really don't end up losing anything in the hip region, technically I could have a situation on my hand because my style of dress is really dependent on size in the hip section. I've come to the conclusion either way I'm going to be doing alterations so I only ordered one size down because I'm really worried about my hips not fitting in two sizes down, YET that is. They told me again that if I get the new size in and in a couple months I'm in this same predicament as long as the dress is available they will for sure be able to just keep ordering me down as long as I have the time to get the dress in. So woo hoo, Spin and Pilates is still working and I'm back to waiting for my dress to come back in.
The only other wedding things that have been going on is my continuing struggle to find save the dates and invites that I like. I am no where even close to "needing" them to send out time wise, but of course as you've probably noticed, I don't really procrastinate. Once the move is done I'll probably really get crazy with doing all kinds of wedding things again. Don't tell Wesley but the "Loft" space at the new place is totally going to be the wedding staging area for a few months at least!!
Until the next time gang....hope everyone is still having as much fun reading these updates as I'm having writing them.

Misty, Bridal salons are notorious for measuring and ordering the wrong sizes. They make a boatload of $$ in alterations. It sounds like your dress might be form fitting at the hips. Keep trying on and hold them to their word. If they'll continue ordering for you, why don't they simply order both sizes and let you choose. They could also check w/ another David's Bridal to see if they have either of the sizes. Just be careful. I hate to be so negative, but I've been around the block a few times w/ salons, and it's a huge problem. Just a word to the wise.
ReplyDeleteI totally understand and that is why I specifically made sure I saw all the measurements they did and watched where everything measured to. I also looked specifically at my specific dress specs chart for sizing. I know that I've still got so much time before the wedding and I also know that I'm probably going to go down another size just because of how much I'm going to be working out. It's inevitable I think...I'm going to just keep in touch with the gal Jae at DB that I've been working with and make sure that we stay on the same page about everything.
