Not really sure how we have an 8 month old on our hands but I still wake up every morning feeling so blessed that this little beautiful, amazing girl is really ours. Sometimes I can't believe she's really ours and we get to keep her and love her forever. She's becoming so much fun and is really starting to get a personality of her own. She's so happy almost all the time. Her smile is seriously the best thing ever and her laugh and giggle, well I can't even.
Over the last month she's grown so much. Not just height and weight, but developmentally she's grown leaps and bounds. She officially started crawling a week ago and we are officially on the move all day. The house has become stage one kiddie proofed. We actually just today got new carpet installed as well in the house so honestly it's no big deal to really just let her roam and discover the whole house and not be grossed out by the old carpet that was in here when we started renting this house. She's seriously loving being a little explorer. She gets so excited to crawl all over the place. Since she's clearly more mobile her fur brother is just even more annoyed by her I think. He really doesn't want anything to do with her. He's not aggressive towards her by any means but he just would prefer I think if he was "top dog" in the house still. I think his jealousy is just still the biggest issue. We still need to figure out a way to manage the attention with them both and he'll come around.
She's become a master of eating her Puffs. She thinks is perfectly normal to get a whole handful of them and try to get them all in her mouth too. She's learned that throwing your cup or anything else she might get to hold while trying to eat a meal should be a game. And we still stupidly play along because it's funny. It shouldn't be funny because she's just going to keep doing it, but c'mon you all did the same things with your kids too. Everything is funny!
Speaking of funny....well we're trying to teach her no, and well.....she thinks that is funny too. She will turn around and look at you with a grin on her face and just keep on going on doing what she shouldn't be doing. She's also started doing the shake your head no face. I have no idea where she got that from but she does it and of course....it's hilarious. So we can't even do the shake your head no and have it mean no to her because she thinks its funny so she does it too.
She's finally becoming much more vocal. The sweet quiet little thing that she's been for months....yeah that girl is gone. She's now yelling, and "singing" and babbling all day long. Still no clear saying of "ma-ma" or "da-da" though, or anything for that matter.
I am so looking forward to the next few months and watching our girl grow. As excited as I am though, I do miss my little baby.
Here is a little look at more about what has been going on with Roarin Rorie!
Age 8 Months
Weight 18.5 lbs
Height We don't have an exact measurement on this. She's probably close to 29 inches.
Clothing Size Well we officially have a full tote of cloths sized Newborn all the way to 6 Months. There are a couple things that she has in a 6-9 that she can squeeze into but those are going away probably after one more wear. We just started wearing our first 12 month clothes. We've upgraded to some two piece jammies which are really fun. So she's mostly in 9 and 12 month clothes now. I can't believe how big she's gotten.
Activities Still loves her ball pit, except now she likes to crawl into it and out of it on her own! Crawling is pretty much the big activity lately. She's been exploring the house for the last week since she got the crawling thing down and now she's go go go. Candace has been doing a lot of reading with her and by reading I mean she eats the books. She's not one to sit still very much and just listen. Hmm..wonder where she gets that from. Mommy and Daddy are trying to get a little more active so at night after dinner we go for a walk together as a family with her fur brother in tow as well. We introduced some new wooden block toys that she's totally not using how they are intended. They are only going in her mouth to be chewed on or being thrown across the floor. Yes she throws things now. Good for her. Work on that arm strength.
Mood Happy Happy and more Happy
Looking Forward To I still think her first real words might be coming and when they do I'm going to be super excited. And now I guess we're just waiting for the jump to crawling up on things, pulling up and maybe starting to stand up a bit. I say that now and then I'll probably totally regret saying it.
