So at the beginning of the year we were looking into ways to add another class or two of my own. It didn't quite work out as planned but what the owner, Rachael, was willing to do was let me sub her new Spin/Power Sculpt Yoga class on the last Saturday of every month. I can't lie when she first mentioned it I was like, "me?"...."yoga"...."you want me to teach yoga?" Now don't get me wrong I've taken my fair share of Yoga, it just hasn't been recently. More importantly though, I've never taught it. I know the majority of the "major" positions but to actually put a class together definitely freaks me out a bit.
So a couple weeks ago when we confirmed up that I was going to do this she actually threw it at me that she needed a sub for February 9th (this Saturday). I immediately thought "oh hot damn" I need to start refreshing ASAP. So for the last three weeks I've been doubling up on Saturdays. I'm teaching my 8am hour Spin then staying for her Spin/Power Sculpt Yoga class to (1. get in shape for it, and 2. start refreshing my Yoga skills)
Something really crazy that I've logged by doing this is the amount of calories I'm burning in those two hours. The first week I did it I hit 1418 calories in the two hours. The second week, 1403. This past weekend (I can't lie I was dogging it a bit in the second portion of Rachael's Spin because I just wasn't feeling great) but still burned 1378 calories. I've never been great at logging these numbers down so I'm not even sure if those are crazy insane numbers, or average? I'm just going to keep logging it to see how it goes.
So for this Saturday here is the play list I'm going to try and go with. I'll keep the high energy and difficult climbs in the first half hour to get everyone's heart rate up and then start the Power Sculpt Yoga half hour with some higher energy but calmer music if that makes sense? All into winding down typical calming Yoga style music. Who knows I could be way off with this, but we'll see. For the Yoga section I don't have a specific position for each song, it will just play in the background and we'll do mostly a Flow sequence.
