Power Sculpt Yoga.....Success

So as you might recall I mentioned a couple weeks back that I was supposed to have taught my first Spin/Power Sculpt Yoga sesh back on the 9th of Feb.  Well it was much cooler apparently to come down with a nasty sinus infection and then just for shits and giggles throw in the nasty flu that is going around.  I've gotten a little sick here and there since November and was really always able to power through but this time sickness won and I was down for the count.  Missed my regular job for a day and had to get a sub for my 8am Spin class.  Luckily the few people that were signed up for my first attempt either just cancelled out all together or switched into a different class so we didn't really have to get another sub for that.

None the less I got a couple more weeks of practice until having to give teaching it a go.  I took a couple more classes with Rachael and felt pretty good about it.  That was until this past Friday night (the night before class).  I don't know what came over me but I got so nervous that I was going to just totally screw it all up and have no clue what I was doing.  So sporadically for about 2 hours Friday night I was up in my loft practicing different parts of the flow trying to get some kind of a routine down.  It seemed like everything I was trying to put together wasn't working right and the timing was all off.  I think my biggest problem was that I'm so used to relying on the beat of the song dictating how I put together a Spin routine that I sat that trying to do that with the Yoga and it just doesn't work that way.  Once I got over that I realized ok just let the music play in the background and do your thing.  I did still email Rachael asking her to ping me over her flow just to have a backup plan incase I started having a meltdown the next morning.  I went to bed semi confident that I might actually be able to pull it off.

I woke up Saturday morning with those weird nervous butterflies in my stomach.  It was almost painful to be honest because I had to teach my Spin sesh first.  I tried to just not think about it.  Luckily my usual suspects distracted me enough during my 8am class that I think it actually really helped settle me down.  9am  came and so did a few familiar faces.  Luckily we start the first half hour with Spin.  The EASY part.  I tried to just get the most out of everyone in the first half hour that way if it was an utter failure in the second half hour at least maybe they still would get a pretty decent workout.  Half half hour came and went....very fast.  We got the room swapped out, laid the yoga mats down.  Shut the doors, dimmed the lights and started the new music.  All of the sudden I don't know what happened but it was like a light switch that just went on.  I literally just had this ah ha moment where I just knew that it was going to go awesome.

All those notes I wrote down....didn't even once look at them!  I'm telling you....we flowed the shit out of that Yoga sesh.  I even went for it and threw in the weights and a few moves that when I'm taking Yoga I hate doing myself.  I just was confident in how everything was going that it just all kind of happened.  At the end during our last child's pose before we rose up I literally took this deep breath in and let out the biggest sigh of relief.  At the same time just this really excited feeling.  Going into it so scared and coming out feeling like that was amazing.  The ladies in the class all said how they thought it all went great so that was the exclamation point, the cherry on top to how I was feeling.  I'm excited and looking forward to getting to teach it some more!
