But what I'm not worried about....The Easy Stuff.
The easiest decision I've made to date besides saying YES to Wesley was picking my photographer! She is the AMAZING Miss Rebecca Dawson Dever. I met Becca a few years ago through my good friend Kenzie. They had been friends for a while and Becca was always around at most of the parties that Kenzie had for her kids or even the occasional (earmuffs little ones....) "sex toy party". When I found out that Becca was a photographer I immediately looked her up and started checking out her portfolio. Needless to say she completely blew me away. Her style is totally me and I just fell in love with all of her work. She was actually even a lot of the reason why I started getting more into my own photography passion again. So at this time when I first had met her I didn't really have any reasons for her to do any photos for me. I didn't have a man at the time, I didn't have my doggy at the time. So I just kept looking at all her pictures imagining that someday I could ask her use her amazing talent on me.
Shortly after we got engaged I Facebooked her and said "GUESS WHAT, IT'S TIME". I told her that out of all the decisions I knew I was going to have to start making, this was the easiest one. That not only do I want, but I NEED her to be the one that captures the most important day of my life. I had gotten to know her, and for me that is a big deal. I want to be able to not only love the work that the photographer does, but I want to be able to trust them that they know how much this day means to me. With her I know I will have no stress at all because I know that she's going to put her entire heart and soul into the day. We set up a meeting literally the weekend after we got back from Maui. I couldn't even wait to see her and start going over all of the ideas I've had running through my head.
The best thing about Becca is the connections that she's made through her career. She has given me so many people to speak with about different things for the wedding from a flower gal, to a friend who works at The White Dress, to people that can do makeup, to a place that has all things hair and accessories. Becca truly is amazing. I didn't know this about her but she used to do wedding coordinating. I feel like I've found my pseudo coordinator in her as well. I'm so blessed that I was able to meet her when I did because I don't know what I would have done. Not only photographer wise, but advise wise without her during this entire process. She's gone above and beyond the call of duty so far and we're not even close to the big day.

I'm looking forward to all of the meetings her and I are going to be able to have because with her it's so exciting. We have already talked about mine and Wesley's engagement shoot and it's going to be amazing. I had remembered seeing these shoots she had done that had a lot of color in the backgrounds. They had a kind of like a hipster, trendy looking feel about them. I just never knew where this place was. So I finally asked her and apparently it's a place called The Lab (Anti-Mall) in Costa Mesa. http://thelab.com/ I honestly didn't even know this existed, but it's AMAZING! As soon as I told Wesley about it he literally looked at me and said "Babe, seriously why have we not been here". Here is a little gander at what this place looks like. Fun colors, abstract objects...it's totally my idea of a FUN PHOTOSHOOT PLACE.
So yea!! I'm so excited and feel so honored that Becca said YES to capturing this next chapter of our lives. I will honestly never be able to express how much it means to me that it's HER that is going to be there doing this for us. xoxo Becca!!!
So yea...The Easy Stuff....the stuff that hasn't stressed me out. I like that stuff.
I'm enjoying the ride with you- let's enjoy "the easy stuff!" Can't wait for your photoshoot.
ReplyDeleteI used to work right by The LAB and went there on my lunch break a few times! And just so ya know...for me, the majority of planning has been easy stuff. There has been very little that was really stressful, which is the exact opposite of what I expected. I get stressed out easily so I have been very pleasantly surprised at how much of it has been easy. So maybe you'll be surprised too! :)
