Holy crap I got my dress!!

Ok well many of you are probably thinking I'm absolutely crazy for already having so much of the wedding "planned".  I reality none of it is actually booked yet.  We haven't made any down payments.  Just have a lot of our ideas laid out already.

I did however already get my dress.  Well ordered it anyways.  It will be in late next month.  This past Saturday my two local bridesmaids came with me to go and look at some dresses.  I decided to pick one swanky place and then after that go to David's Bridal.  Always an easy choice because of their selection and convenience.

We started off the day at The White Dress in Corona Del Mar.  Now let's be honest, if you know me, you know that this really isn't my kind of place.  I'm not over the top by any means, I don't have a million dollars to spend on a gown, and ohhhhh yeah by the way I'm also not a runway model if you hadn't noticed.  But I went anyways.  The first two parts of that aren't what bugged me, it was the last part about not being a runway model.  I guess I didn't realize that I wouldn't be able to try on really any of the gowns there because they are like 10 sizes too small.  I wanted something a little more form fitting, fit and flare style, mermaid even.  Well when the dress is already too small and you have what I'd like to call the family ass (thanks Perkins ladies) and child bearing hips it's just not a good situation.  Most times you can maybe "SQUEEZE" yourself in but no, not this time.  Turns out it's rather embarrassing.    I literally pulled probably 8 gowns and only was able to really get on 3 of them, 2 of which weren't even remotely the style I wanted, but they were ones that you could kind of figure out a way to squeeze into.  In the fitting room the gal pretty much tried to tell me I just wasn't made for that style dress.  Ok well really lady thanks for making me feel like a big fat piece of shit on a day when I was supposed to be having fun and feeling wonderful.  It just really was shitty because I knew that if they had a dress even remotely my size that I knew I would have loved it.

The major bonus points however that this place got was the fact that they had web cams set up with links onto their website so that people could login and basically watch with you as you tried on gowns.  So YES Mamma Dukes was able to share the moments at that location with me.  I wish that it would have been David's Bridal that had it so she could have seen when I was really happy and found the dress, but none the less, getting that moment with her was great.  Yes I cried like a baby.  It got really emotional.  Knowing she was watching was one thing, but it still just really was hard because she wasn't "really" there.

So moving on, obviously I left there empty handed, which is fine, I had no intentions of even buying anything there.  Onto David's Bridal.   Well here is one thing I will admit, yes I found my dress there, but no the service was NOT amazing.  The gal actually that was helping me was also helping like 2 other girls at the same time.  So since I'm not a patient person I just had one of my bridesmaids come in the dressing room and help me in and out of the gowns so we could keep moving along.  The best thing about David's Bridal is that they have a ton of dresses and a good variety of sizes so you know you can probably at least get all of your choices on to see what you really like and don't like.

I had about 5 styles picked out from just browsing their website and funny enough I really only actually liked 1 of them.  The other ones had some detail to them that I couldn't see online and it was kinda gaudy.  Even the 1 I kind of liked, I didn't love enough to get emotional over it.  So my girls decided they were going to just go rummage through the dresses and get a variety of anything and everything.  They came back with some all lace, some other plain mermaid, some halter tops (which by the way was horrible, I got it on in the dressing room and my girl was like nope, take it off you're not walking out there in that).  So I weeded through them pretty quickly and got to the last one.  Funny enough my girl Tanya actually said she put it back down like 2 times before she decided to just bring it with her.  Now I'm obviously not going to give any details on the blog because you know who (Wesley) could potentially actually ready this and know what it looks like.  We can't have that.  But let's just say that I'm SOOOOOO happy that she decided to bring it back to have me put on.  When I walked out of the fitting room their faces said it all.  When I turned around and looked in the mirror I was like WOW.  I really love this!  The more and more I walked around in it the more and more I just fell in love.

PS - TAKE NOTE GIRL AT "THE WHITE DRESS" IN CORONA DEL MAR, the dress I loved is the style I wanted and MANY people said to me that OMG that style looks amazing on you.

About probably a half hour later still in this dress (which is always a good sign) we looked at the price and it was like it was meant to be.  The whole day I hadn't really been checking the prices to intently because I wasn't out there to really buy a gown that day.  But when they said it's only $299.00 how do you say no?!?! I didn't even have to take the one off the rack.  They would order it for me at the same price!  Well awesome.  So at David's Bridal if you say YES TO THE DRESS as they call it, they do a little something special.  They bring over a bell, go through this little talk, and then ask you to make a wish for your wedding.  When you're done you ring the bell.  Now I can't tell you what I wished, but I hope it really does come true!

It's really such an amazing time.  It was really hard not having my mom and sister there with me, but I know that through the millions of text messages we kept sending with pictures that they were just happy to be somehow a part of it.  I can't wait for them to be here and see me in my dress in person.  I will cry all over again.  Thank you so much to my girls though for helping me keep it together that day.  You two are amazing and I will never be able to tell you thank you enough!
