October...It's Not Just About the Pumpkin Spice Lattes

Some of the guys in my office are really excited about "Stashtober".  Lame, the girls in the office can't participate.  Well unless there is something strange about some of the woman in my office that I don't know about.  So screw "Stashtober"  It's PINKTOBER
October 1st signals the start of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Cancer...I don't really care what kind it is SUCKS.  Breast Cancer specifically though has affected members of my family and some very close friends enough times that it will always be a form that has a different kind of affect on me.

This post just kind of serves as a shout out to anyone who is fighting the fight, those who battled hard and lost the fight, and those who fought that fight and KICKED IT'S ASS!  This month I challenge everyone to try and make a difference.

Sometimes you might make a difference and not even know it.   There are a lot of different companies that help support Breast Cancer Awareness.

Take for example that Yoplait Yogurt you may have just scored at the grocery store.  10 for $10!! Well they have a campaign called Save Lids to Save Lives  If the yogurt you're buying has a PINK lid on it, SAVE it and go to the link and find out how you eating your daily yogurt can help save lives.

Do you like Panera Bread?  I know I do, I love their bagels, sandwiches, etc.  For the 11th year Panera is still supporting Breast Cancer Awareness by making the seasonal Pink Ribbon Bagel.   A portion of every bagel bought will support Breast Cancer Research and charities nationwide.

If you love the football season like I do as well you can even grab gear for your favorite team in various Pink versions.  Their "A Crucial Catch" program has raised close to $5 Million since 2009 when it started.  And the NFL doesn't keep one cent of the money raised from the sale of the Pink items.  Some people still don't get why NFL players agree to wear pink gear on Sundays through the month of October.  They think it's stupid.  I honestly had a blow up with someone once and said hey maybe their mom, their grandma, or their sister, or aunt, wife or girlfriend has had to go through Breast Cancer.  Any man that will support Breast Cancer and rock Pink is a great man in my book!

Speaking of great men! Listen to the man!

Breast Cancer is something that even though it may be hereditary it is one form of cancer that with regular check ups and self exams you may be able to catch early enough.  Breast Cancer doesn't discriminate.  It doesn't care where you come from, if you're rich or poor, 60 or 30.  It's just a total BEOTCH.

So to all my survivor friends, to my family members still fighting, and to those so dear to me that left too soon, this month is for you!
